I am all about making confidence fun, and building a character is one of my favourite ways to do so!
The "Batman Effect" refers to the psychological phenomenon where people, particularly children, can improve their performance on a challenging task by pretending to be a competent character like Batman, essentially creating a mental "alter ego" that allows them to approach the task with a different perspective and increased motivation, often leading to better focus and perseverance.
Key points about the Batman Effect:
**👀 Self-distancing:**The core idea is that by taking on another persona, you create a psychological distance from your own self, allowing you to view the situation with a more objective lens, reducing anxiety and improving focus.
**🧠 Improved performance:**Studies have shown that children who pretend to be Batman while completing a difficult task tend to work harder, persist longer, and show better executive function skills compared to those who don't use this strategy.
And REMEMBER: the Batman Effect does not allow you to act like someone that you are not, but rather it enhances qualities and aspects of yourself that you are not confident enough to let out, yet.
